Description
RFT321 instrument calculates frequency of longitudinal, torsional and flexional resonance on concrete or natural stone samples in order to determine Modulus of Elasticity, damping factor and to analize deterioration caused by the freeze-thaw cycles of material which is investigated. Instrument RFT321 is provided with PC embedded board and colour LCD monitor with integrated 7″ touch-screen. SD removable memory on front panel ensures a quick and safe management of data acquired. User is guided through the whole measuring procedure in a simple and intuitive way, due to some explicative illustrations. RFT321 instrument is also provided with RESreader application, which allows to manage and organize measurements and to create test reports.
Methodologies
MEASURE OF RESONANCE FREQUENCY
Used for determining the Longitudinal, Transverse (Flexural) and Torsional resonant frequency of concrete and natural stone samples. The reasonant frequency allows the determination of the Dynamic Modulus of Elasticity and the Dumping coefficient analysis frequently used, for instance, to determine the degradation due to freezing and thawing cycles. The methodology of investigation is based on the determination of the fundamental resonance values , which is generated from a strain induced on the sample by the impact of steel balls of different diameters detected from an accelerometer sensor. As result of the strain induced on the sample (which can be of three types: longitudinal, transverse (flexural) and Torsional), it is possible to determine the characteristics of the materials investigated, such as: Young modulus of elasticity, Rigidity modulus and Poisson’s ratio.
